Guwahati, May 30, 2022: Meghalaya University of Science and Technology (USTM) has been declared “Best Private University in North East India” as part of Education Eminence Award 2022 by News18 media group.
The award was presented by Dr Ranoj Pegu, Minister of Education of Assam and was accepted by Prof GD Sharma, Vice Chancellor of USTM at a ceremony held last night in Guwahati.
On the same occasion, a debate competition was organized on the theme “New education policy: career and beyond” in which Sharmina Begum, a B Pharma student at USTM, received the prize for the best debater of the Dr Pegu.
Dr Ranoj Pegu and editors of media groups, other prominent dignitaries present at the function
congratulated the USTM for receiving the award. USTM welcomes students from all NE states,
and especially from the state of Assam, according to a press release issued by the USTM.
“I am very happy and I congratulate the USTM family for receiving this award. My best wishes for the USTM to move forward in its mission to become a world-class university,” said the minister.
Professor GD Sharma, VC, USTM said, “Based on our achievements in quality education as well as the learning process of teaching, athletic achievement and NET qualifying students, the National Council Assessment and Accreditation awarded an “A” grade to
USTM in 2021. Achieving an “A” grade on the 1st cycle of the NAAC assessment is actually rare and we
achieved it. »
The NAAC classification takes into account different aspects of the quality of the
curricula, the interaction of teachers and students, the learning process of teaching, research and awareness activities, etc. USTM refund policy is unique since all fees paid by students are refunded by the university under this policy if they pass NET/GATE and other competitive exams like organized civil service exam by UPSC.
