HUMBLE, Texas — HBU is set to host the 2022 Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday through Sunday with the Huskies men and women set to take on the rest of the conference at Turner Stadium in Humble. .

All-American Senior Kaitlin Smith has a full weekend ahead of her as she is scheduled to compete in the heptathlon, 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, long jump and high jump. Smith currently holds the 11and-Best heptathlon mark in the nation with 5,653 points, more than 600 points better than anyone else in the conference. She also holds the league’s fastest times in both hurdles events this season, clocking 13.56 in the 100h and 59.72 in the 400h. These times rank 41st and 44and in the NCAA West Region, respectively.

Smith is also tied for the third-best long jump of the season, posting a mark of 5.94m/19-6.0, while his max height of 1.69m/5-6.5 in the jump in height the sixth place. She set new program records in the 400h and heptathlon this year.

senior companion Ben Drew holds the league’s best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase of nearly 11 seconds, with a time of 8:47.54 for the 22n/a– best weather in the region. Drew will also run the 1,500 meters after posting the second fastest time in the conference this season, less than a second behind the leader at 3:49.33. Scott Boon heads into the weekend to defend his decathlon title from last season, placing second in the league with a total of 7,385 points this season. He will also compete in the pole vault, an event in which he is tied for fourth in the conference.

Senior Jessica Rabius ranked third in the SLC in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.03 and, although she will not compete in the event, set a new program record in the 1,500 meters this season. Ashlyn Dobson enters the 400h with the fourth best time in the league this season, a personal best of 1:01.45.
