Yahoo Sports’ Dan Wetzel and Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde and Ross Dellenger discuss TCU’s 17-10 win over Texas and lament another disappointing season for the Longhorns under Steve Sarkisian.

Video transcript

DAN WETZEL: I’m sick of Texas.

[LAUGHTER]

I’m done with Texas.

PAT FORDE: The University of Texas or the whole state. Or what… how do you talk about it?

DAN WETZEL: Oh, no, they’re great in Fort Worth. They are great in Fort Worth. I can’t say anything bad about Texas Christian University. Texas, mighty Texas. We are back.

Sark, big games. Stop horned frogs. 199 total yards with Quinn Ewers at quarterback. One of 13 on third down.

PAT FORDE: Unbelievable.

DAN WETZEL: Average game – yards per play, 3.3, 28 rushing yards. Great job, but I’ll give Texas defense full credit…TCU. We’re keeping – we’re just kind of waiting for TCU to go down. They’re 10-0, baby. They squirt…they squirt blood at people with their little eyes like horned frogs do.

PAT FORDE: Yes they are.

DAN WETZEL: All TC students… TCU students fail because they’re all out in the desert trying to lick toads. And it’s a mess. We can’t handle this. But it’s a show about misery.

Texas, what was that? Nothing, nothing done, cleared for the first half. Like, what is– what– is Sark like magic dust on people? He’s got Arch– he got the Manning family to say, yeah, that’s the offense I want to play in. Pat, do it, make it make sense.

PAT FORDE: Man, laundry is all laundry. It’s all smoke and mirrors. It’s full smoke and mirrors. Hiring Sark was, I mean, he convinced Texas to hire him. I do not know how. I got Arch Manning to sign up, I don’t know how. Made everyone think their three-game losing teams should somehow be touchdown favorites against undefeated TCU.

ROSS DELLENGER: I fell into it.

DAN WETZEL: I do not know how.

ROSS DELLENGER: I fell into it.

PAT FORDE: I have someone to believe, look, I’m sorry, winning with Quinn, no. What did Quinn Ewers do? He had a great game against Oklahoma, big shout. A lot of people have great games against Oklahoma. Oklahoma sucks, OK, let’s be clear about this. Laundry! Laundry!

DAN WETZEL: I like–

PAT FORDE: Oklahoma sucks.

DAN WETZEL: –salted about this podcast already. I love how salty we are.

ROSS DELLENGER: Boy, right out the door.

DAN WETZEL: Let’s go.

ROSS DELLENGER: I was more surprised by Bijan’s numbers – Bijan’s numbers, Bijan Robinson’s numbers, 12 carries, 29 yards. I guess that’s a great defense at TCU, you know, keep doubting the Horned Frogs and wait for them to lose. And every week they end up finding aces, man, that week. Credit a little to their defense.

No one has really been able to stop Bijan this season. And they did. It’s an incredible game for their defensive unit.

DAN WETZEL: Yeah. I mean, let’s…let’s go to TCU. What a night, isn’t it? Oh, they took our old trainer. We fired our coach. Now he’s out there, he’s going to put together a game plan, and we put it forward.

Gary Patterson will– oh, you wanna see the defense? Everyone is waiting for TCU to fall, including me. I am the idiot. I am the idiot. I’ll go… I think I was looking for bags. I was stoned.

I don’t… I have no excuse. And they just came out. And yes, it’s a bad game. But you know what, I won, beat Texas, 10-0. I mean, it’s just amazing what’s going on there. Texas humiliated.

PAT FORDE: It’s awesome.

DAN WETZEL: I mean, it’s embarrassing. It’s not that they lost, it’s that they’ve been so bad for so long. I think the fans were leaving. Like, it looked like the stadium was kind of like people left, even though it was a tight game.

PAT FORDE: Yeah, I mean, like Texas was so futile that once TCU had two touchdowns, this game was completely over. Really a touchdown, it felt like it was over. And then two touchdowns, it was definitely over. I mean, Texas’ only touchdown was a fumble return. So it was a gift from TCU.

But in your opinion, man, massive credit to TCU. They just… what they… they find ways to win. I mean, look at the margins of victory. Since they destroyed Oklahoma, their margin of victory is 7, 3, 10, 10, 10, 7. They’ve been in close games and they know what to do in close games.

They know how to execute. They know which games to follow. They know how to perform. And you know, for some people, well, they haven’t been there, they haven’t been on that stage. They really look like they’ve been on stage, because they’re doing plays.

It’s–it’s fantastic. It was great fun to watch. And now they have to– they have to get ready for another road game at Baylor, close, you know, close, at least, just a nice road down 35. Actually, there’s no nice roads down 35, so from a short drive down 35.

For that, next week and, I mean, I’m telling you they might even afford a loss and still make the playoffs. We’re down to about eight teams that really have a chance of succeeding.

DAN WETZEL: That’s where we come in with this, everyone’s waiting for it to drop. And I think TCU is, you said eight, I think there are nine teams left. There are really only seven…

PAT FORDE: Right.

DAN WETZEL: –with a chance in the playoffs. TCU, obviously, continues to win. They are in, fascinating team. And they will have earned it.
