Evaluating the current roster, Sooners Wire profiles the current players, followed by cornerback Joshua Eaton.
As the 2022 season approaches, cornerback depth remains a bit of a question mark for the Oklahoma Sooners. Oklahoma looks solid on the outside, with Woodi Washington and DJ Graham headlining. Junior cornerback Joshua Eaton hopes to help answer the positional depth question.
Eaton played 15 games in his first two seasons with the Oklahoma Sooners in a reserve role. In 2021, he played 10 or more defensive snaps in a game three times, against Tulane, Western Carolina and TCU. In his first two seasons, he was only targeted 10 times, giving up six receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown came in 2021 when the Sooners faced TCU and 2022 preseason All-Big 12 selection Quentin Johnston.
With 122 snaps in his first two seasons, Eaton has some experience to draw on and he has the size to be disruptive as an outside cornerback for the Oklahoma Sooners defense.

Depth Chart Preview
Woodi Washington and DJ Graham appear to be your starting cornerbacks on the outside, and the Sooners made moves in the transfer gate to add Kani Walker and CJ Coldon. However, in a new year with a new coaching staff, depth chart positions and Eaton’s experience could prove useful in helping him carve out a role in the Sooners’ defense.
