Sheffield-Calahaln: Area fire services seek more volunteers

Chief Gary Allen of Sheffield-Calahaln thanks everyone for the support for Saturday’s Gun Bingo. Everyone enjoyed the meal of pintos, chicken stew, hot dogs and desserts. In addition to guns, there were numerous raffles for door prizes, 50/50 raffles, silent auctions and more. Again, all firefighters appreciate the support shown by the community and surrounding area.

I received a few more pictures of Halloween goblins which were certainly a lot of fun. Thanks to Amanda Jordan for sharing the creepy creatures.

Youth and Children’s Night is held every Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at New Union, which has Sunday School every week at 9:00 a.m. and worship at 10:00 a.m.

If you are interested in becoming a firefighter, Chief Gary Allen of Sheffield-Calahaln VFD invites you to come to the department or call 336-492-5791.

The “Training for Service” Bible study, a basic biblical overview for every Christian, is held every Sunday evening from 5-6 p.m. at Ijames Baptist. The Sunday morning worship sermons focus on “What it means to be a member of a church”. TeamKID takes place every evening from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. for children from 3 years old to 6th grade. Ijames welcomes everyone to all services.

A time of prayer is held at Liberty Wesleyan Church each Sunday at 9:30 a.m., followed by Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. Liberty collects canned food for Matthew 25.

Community Covenant invites you on Sundays at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. for worship and Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. for Bible study.

The Center Volunteer Fire Department is looking for volunteers to help serve the community. Stop by the train station every Thursday evening at 7 p.m. or call 336-492-7649.

Wesley Chapel UMC sells TerriLynn nut products. Available items are Pecan Chunks and Halves, Cashews, Deluxe Mixed Nuts, English Walnuts, Chocolate Covered Peanuts, and Chocolate Covered Raisins. BoTyme Country Jubilee takes place weekly from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Farmington Community Center with a mix of country, bluegrass and gospel music. Admission is $3, but musicians are admitted free. Everyone is welcome.

Every Monday night from 6:30-9:30 p.m. there is a jam session at Meatlocker on Garden Valley Road off US 64 near Cool Springs.

John and Lynn Powell invite you to join them every Wednesday night at Galilee Missionary Baptist for a bluegrass gospel jam at 7 p.m.

The Christmas Open House at Poplar Springs School will be held December 3 and 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a variety of unique, vintage and repurposed artisan items, as well as Vauda’s delicious vegetable soup, sourdough rolls and other baked goods. Poplar Springs is located at 660 Ijames Church Road (between US 601 N. and Sheffield Road, Mocksville). It’s a great place to shop for that special someone who has everything.
