Russell Dale Arthur, 80, of Bragg, WV, died Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV, after a long illness and a broken heart due to the loss of his love of his life of nearly sixty years in 2021, his beloved wife, Ethel Arthur.
Born July 10, 1941 in Pear, WV, he was the son of the late Russell B. Arthur and the late Margaret Marie Bragg Arthur. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Ethel, by three brothers, one sister, two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
Those who cherish his memory include his children, Annette and Les Arthur of Bragg, WV, and Michael Arthur of Hinton; three sisters, Sue Bragg of Ellison Ridge, Sharon Bragg (Donald), of Bragg and Debra Clay (Ken) of Princeton; one brother, Robert Arthur (Teresa), of Richmond, Virginia. Seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three children of God, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Arthur was a bricklayer for over forty years, until he finally retired in 2002 to be with his family. He was very fond of the outdoors, working in the garden and collecting and repairing old clocks. He also enjoyed watching The Weather Channel on TV. Mr. Arthur attended Abraham Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at Abraham Freewill Baptist Church in Bragg, WV on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Michael Lucas officiating. Interment will follow at Goodson Cemetery #1 in Bragg, WV. Friends may visit family from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Shady Spring, as well as one hour before services on Sunday at the church. Family and friends will serve as porters.
