SAN ANGELO, Texas – A pair of corner kick goals pushed RV Angelo State Rambelles past the Lady Chaps 2-0 in a physical game on Wednesday, October 12.

The Belles (11-2-1, 6-2 LSC) came out hot, with Madison Stokes firing the first shot of the game in the 4e minute which was corralled by Abby Kone for the stoppage.

Celia Duarte saw the best opportunity for the Lady Chaps (6-2-5, 3-1-2 LSC) in the 21st minute, but his shot went over the net.

Kone stayed busy in the 26e minute, blocking a Katelin Heise shot before saving Cassidy Hill’s rebound to keep the game scoreless.

After a corner kick bounced around the box, Katie Detmer and Heise settled the ball enough in the 35e minute to send a ball to Grace Jordan, who connected in the back of the net to push Angelo State ahead 1-0 at the break.

It was the Lady Chaps who had the chance to score early in the second half, with Julie Chahi sending a ball into the mitts of Rambelle goalkeeper Kira Miller barely 10 seconds into the second period.

madison maybe had another hit for the Lady Chaps in the 58e minute, but once again Miller made the save.

In another corner of Angelo State in the 73rd minute, the ball ricocheted around the box, before Mia Czarnecki found Heise in net for Rambelle’s second goal of the game.

Shahi had a chance to cut the lead in half in the 87e minute, but Miller made another save and earned his ninth shutout of the season, giving Angelo State the 2-0 win.

Heise’s three points are the most scored by an opposing player in a game this season against Lady Chaps. She is the first player to score a goal and get an assist in a game this season from any team that has faced the LCU.

The shutout brings Lady Chaps’ scoreless streak against ASU to 305:15 of game action. The Rambelles have shut out LCU in the last three meetings.

A plus point for the Lady Chaps is Arely Jimenez continuing to climb the career rankings, becoming only the third Lady Chap in program history to play in 75 career games, tied for third in program history. With 90 minutes played tonight, Jimenez becomes the sole possession for the fifth-most minutes played in program history, recording 5,309 minutes on the court in his career.

LCU returns home to the LCU Soccer & Track Facility on Saturday, October 15 to take on Texas Woman’s at 1 p.m. It will also be senior day for the Lady Chaps. Fans can purchase tickets for the contest at lcuchaps.com.
