MINNEAPOLIS- The Golden Gophers softball team is welcoming Bailey Oetting to the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant, the head coach announced Wednesday. Piper Ritter.
Oetting arrives in Minnesota after spending the 2022 campaign at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan, as an assistant coach helping the Chargers to a 31-20 record.
“We can’t wait to have Bailey on our softball staff,” Ritter said. “She has a love for the game and will help our student-athletes improve. The Gophers are thrilled to welcome her to our family.”
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Arizona State in 2018, Oetting began her coaching career as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Arizona Christian University in Phoenix. She spent the 2019 season as a head coach at Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, Ill., before two years as a graduate assistant at southern Arkansas. Oetting guided the Muleriders to a No. 1 ranking in NCAA Division II in the 2020 season ahead of a 29-10 record and an NCAA Central Region Tournament appearance in 2021.
As a player, Oetting made 11 appearances behind the plate for Arizona State in 2017 playing for the assistant coach of the Sun Devils and the current associate head coach of the Gophers. carly wynn. The team won 31 games and reached the NCAA Oxford Regional. Prior to her move to ASU, she played at Muscatine Community College in Iowa, serving as the team’s leading catcher and had a .286 batting average with six doubles, one home run and 16 RBIs in 33. matches.
