Longtime Monaca resident Nancy Fronko Barber, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 20, 2022.

She was the daughter of the late John and Stella (Guzik) Fronko. Gifted with a witty and outgoing personality, Nancy had a unique gift of being the center of attention. She excelled in gymnastics all her life and in 1956 she competed in the Summer Olympics. After specializing as a fitness instructor at Slippery Rock University, Nancy taught gymnastics, belly dancing, dance, yoga, aerobics and swimming in Beaver and Allegheny counties . Nancy has also worked as a travel agent for several different travel agencies over the years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca and a Christian mother, as well as a former reunion committee member for the Monaca Jr. Women’s Club and the Monaca High School Alumni Reunion. In 2008, she won the title of Miss Senior of Beaver County. As she grew older and unable to take up gymnastics, she put her energy to good use laminating sporting goods for Central Valley High School. She really lived her life to the fullest.

She will be sadly missed by her husband of 62 years, Frank Barber, daughter Tish Barber-Tokarski, sons Richard (Carolyn) Barber and Scott Barber, grandchildren Chad Tokarski, Ali Tokarski, Haley Tokarski, Brad (Emily) Barber, Brett (Megan) Barber and Brittany Barber and great-grandchildren Eli Tokarski, CJ Tokarski, Milo Tokarski, Carysn Tokarski, Kaine Barber and McKenna Barber. A sister-in-law, Delores “Dee” Fronko.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Richard Fronko and John (Sonny) Fronko.

Friends will be received on Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where prayers will be offered on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the church Catholic St. John the Baptist, Monaca. Private interment will follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
