TEMPE, Ariz. — The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced that Washington and Lee University is one of 125 NCAA Division III men’s tennis programs nominated to receive the 2022 varsity team award from the ‘ITA to have a team GPA of 3.2 or better. Additionally, eight individual W&L players have qualified for the 2022 ITA Scholar-Athlete Awards.

A total of 940 NCAA Division III male tennis players have won the Scholar-Athlete Award, which recognizes athletes who are eligible for 2022 competition and have achieved a minimum 3.5 GPA for the year. university 2021-22.

Among the generals who received the Scholar-Athlete award were recent graduates Bobby Neuer (Darien, Connecticut/Darien), rising juniors Connor Coleman (Birmingham, Alabama / Briarwood Christian), Jonathan Molner (Atlanta, Georgia / Lovett) and Cameron Sepahi (Irvine, CA/University High) and sophomores Evan Erbe (St. Louis, MO/MICDS), Eli Hirshberg (Alpharetta, Georgia / Johns Creek), Will Kistler (Hilton Head, SC / Laurel Springs School) and James Kurani (Charlotte, NC / Providence Day).

Neuner, Coleman and Molner each won the ITA Scholar Athlete award a season ago, with Neuner picking up his third win in a row. Sepahi, Erb, Hirshberg, Kistler and Kurani are all selected for the first time.

The Generals finished the 2022 season with a 15-9 record, including an 8-0 ODAC mark, and won their 12th straight ODAC championship.
