Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home

Linda Louise Watkins, 75, of Tuscaloosa, went into her father’s loving arms at her home on Monday, June 6, 2022, along with her family. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel with Dr. Herb Thomas officiating with interment to follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park under the direction of Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel . Visits will take place 1 hour before the service.

A lifelong resident of Tuscaloosa, she was predeceased by her parents, David and Louise Watkins, her sisters, Connie Watkins Jones and Cathy Watkins Wurm, her brother, Larry Watkins and her nephew, Scott Watkins.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Senna Jones Hubbard, Todd Jones, Misty Jones Thompson, David Watkins, Van Wurm, Brad Wurm and Gretchen Righter.

Linda was a loving and generous person with a servant’s heart. She cared for her parents in the last years of their lives, extending the quality of their lives through her love and dedication. She was a devoted sister and had 8 nieces and nephews whom she loved and supported throughout her life and 20 great-nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored dearly. In her younger years, she was an avid traveler, traveling much of Europe, the South Pacific, and the Holy Land. She was an excellent and adventurous cook, often introducing her family to new recipes and was the backstage MVP at Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings for the Watkins family for decades. Linda was a member of Circlewood Baptist Church for 66 years where she fulfilled any role or responsibility that was asked of her. She taught Sunday School for 30 years and loved missions and served with Operation Christmas Child. She was also actively involved in the American Legion Auxiliary, where she was honored for her volunteerism. She graduated from Holt High School in 1965 and attended Livingston University where she was a member of the marching band. She graduated from Livingston in 1969 and was the first person in her family to graduate from college. She had a successful career in public service, retiring from the Department of Human Resources as a supervisor after 25 years. Above all, Linda was a loving disciple of Jesus. She will be missed, but her kind spirit will live on in our hearts and memories.

The porters are Van Wurm, Brad Wurm, Todd Jones, David Watkins, Caleb Wurm, Cameron Wurm, Slayton Thompson and Blake Hubbard.

Honorary bearers are Friends of Circlewood Baptist Church, Ann Judson Sunday School Class and her loving carers.
