LAWTON, Oklahoma- After nearly a month away from class, the Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps return to the links this week, heading to Lawton, Okla. for the Oklahoma Intercollegiate on October 10 and 11.
The 36-hole tournament features: No. 25 Oklahoma Christian, RV Midwestern State, Angelo State, Cameron, McLennan CC, Ranger CC, Seminole State and Texas A&M Kingsville.
In their last tournament, Aspen Escamille reset several personal bests en route to a seventh-place finish at the ASU Concho Classic on Tuesday, September 20.
The Midland, Texas junior recovered from four bogeys on the back nine to hit six straight pars to shoot a six-for-78 in the second round at Bentwood Country Club. Aspen Escamille finished the tournament with a score of nine of 153 in two rounds, beating his previous two-round record of 161 at the 2021 BU Spring Break Classic by eight strokes.
Aspen Escamille shot six times for an average score of 4.30 on par fours, the sixth highest score in the field. She also shot par-fives, tied for the course’s seventh-best score on the longest holes at Bentwood Country Club. His 22 pars were tied for sixth in the field.
As a team at the Concho Classic, the Lady Chaps finished fifth with a score of 62 out of 638 in two rounds. Lubbock Christian shot a 32 of 320 on the final day of the tournament. LCU was the third-best team on par threes, shooting 18 times for an average score of 3.45 on the shortest holes.
Individually, Prestley Hammond leads the Lady Chaps after two tournaments, averaging 76 in five rounds of golf. Hammond shot under 70 in his season opener at the West Texas A&M Invitational earlier this season.
The Lady Chaps have shot an average score of 310 in five rounds of golf this season. Their three-round score of 912 at the West Texas A&M Invitational set a new school record for the highest three-round score in program history.
LCU last competed at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate in the 2020 fall season, finishing 10th with a two-round score of 684. The Lady Chaps had to play two rounds of golf in one day as rain canceled the opening round of the tournament.
Monday, October 10 begins with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m., followed by the final round on Tuesday, October 11, which also begins at 9:00 a.m. Results will be available after each round on lcuchaps.com
