James Donald “Don” Scruggs, 72, of Candler, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Mission Hospital.
A native of Buncombe Co., Mr. Scruggs was the son of the late Harry Lee and Clara Belle Gaddis Scruggs. He was also predeceased by a brother, Harry Scruggs, Jr., and his sister Marie Campbell.
Mr. Scruggs attended Candler Elementary School and graduated in 1967 from Enka High School. He graduated with a Chemical Engineering Technology degree from ABTech in 1969. He has worked for American Enka, CP & L / Progress Energy (retired in 2013) and Avid. He was a co-founder of Ingress, Inc. He was a long-time member of the Hominy Baptist Church.
Her deep love for her family and friends and her unwavering faith in God have guided her path in life.
Survivor is his 49-year-old wife, Myra Jean Surrette Scruggs; daughters, Jennifer Reed and her husband Joey, and Kimberly Scruggs; son, Matthew D. Scruggs and his wife Sally; grandchildren, Preston and Jackson Reed and Charlie Scruggs; sisters, Joanne Young, Edna Shook and Joyce Riddle; and his brother, David Scruggs.
The funeral will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday October 5th at the Hominy Baptist Church, with the Reverend Dr. Joe Yelton and the Reverends. David Scruggs and Jimmy Dykes officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive the friends one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made at Hominy Baptist Church, 135 Candler School Rd., Candler, NC 28715.
