Indian Ranking – National Institute Ranking Framework more commonly known as NIRF Ranking 2022. There are lists of top tertiary institutes in subcategories including top universities, top colleges and sectional lists of top engineers , doctors, law and management colleges, pharmaceutical colleges, architecture and others.

For the past three years, IIT Madras has been ranked as the best college in general and engineering categories. The second runner up for the best overall category is IISc Bangalore which has been ranked in second place for three years, however, it has been ranked as the best research institute for some time now.

There is an increase in the number of colleges applying for the ranking this year. A total of 7254 tertiary institutions across India participated in NIRF 2022 compared to 6272 last year. The number of unique Indian rankings applicants increased from 2,426 in 2016 to 4,030 in 2021, while the total number of rankings applications in various categories increased from 3,565 in 2016 to 6,272 in 2021. This represents an increase total of 1,604 (66% increase) in single institutions and 2,707 (76% increase) in total applicants. »

To rate colleges and universities, the NIRF rates higher education institutions based on n, out of a total of 100%, a weight of 30% is given to teaching, learning and resources and to research and professional practice each. While 20% weighting was given to graduation outcomes, 10% to awareness, inclusiveness and perception each.
