University Ridge Golf Course
University Ridge was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1991. Its name comes from where the Wisconsin glacier stopped and created the ridge that runs through the region. University Ridge offers five sets of tees ranging from 5,005 to 7,289 yards and a variety of courses. The front nine is wide open and winds through a meadow and a swamp before plunging into the woods. The last three holes open again and the 18th hole features a 182-foot climb from tee to green.
Format and timeline
The Badger Invitational is a three-day tournament with 18 holes played every three days. The game starts Sunday (September 26) at 10:30 am for HPU. The Panthers are paired with Augusta and Toledo in the final group to come out of the hole on a Sunday. Monday (September 27) will start at 9 a.m. with tee times based on team position after 18 holes. The format for Tuesday (September 28) is the same as Monday, with departure times starting at 8:30 a.m.
High Point opened its 2021-22 season in Louisiana two weeks ago at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate. The Panthers finished in 16th place as a team at +22 while HPU’s best player was Stuart fuller in a share of 40th place to three.
To the north
Wisconsin is the northernmost HPU it has traveled in the past 10 seasons. Previously, the northernmost was Lorton, Va. For George Mason’s Patriot Intercollegiate, just outside of our nation’s capital.
High Point will then host its first tournament in the Carolinas when the Purples and Whites travel to Spartanburg, SC for the Carolina Collegiate hosted by Wofford on October 11-12.
