LAUREL – Frances Brown Randall was born May 10, 1935 in Laurel, Mississippi, to the late Moses and Bessie Brown. She was educated in Laurel, Mississippi, public school system. She graduated from Alcorn State University with a degree in elementary education and Mississippi Valley State University with a master’s degree in education. She was employed by the Greenville Public School System for 40 years until her retirement in 1998.
Frances confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. She was a member of New Hope First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the sanctuary choir. Frances loved her church. Frances was a member of the National Teachers Association and the Alcorn Alumni Association. Frances was married to Alton Ray Randall for 43 years before his death in 2009. She was a loving mother to two daughters, Pamela and Charlotte. Frances left this 87-year-old life at 6:08 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, after a long illness.
She leaves her memories to be cherished: her loving, faithful and devoted daughter and son, Charlotte and Eric Vann Ross, both of Lithonia, Georgia; five grandsons, Zadarsky Coleman, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dannon and Dannzal Bew, both of Greenville, Mississippi, Dante Bew, of Decatur, Georgia, and Eric Vann Ross II, of Lithonia, Georgia; two brothers, Robert Earl Brown, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Alonzo Brown, of Dallas, Texas; brother-in-law, Winfrey Randall (Mary), of Dallas, Texas; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral was held on Thursday, June 16 at New Hope First Baptist Church, 705 Nelson St., Greenville. Interment took place at Delta Memorial Gardens. Professional services entrusted to William Gayleano Murray & Son Funeral Home, Atlanta, GA.
