Mangaluru: The dean of a private medical college in the city who has been missing since Sunday, September 25, according to the complaint received by the Mangaluru South police has still not been found. The missing person is Dr Urban J Arnold D’Souza, who was reported missing from his home in Valencia on Sunday.

We learn that Doctor D’Souza left his home around 7 p.m., on his two-wheeler, after informing his wife that he was going to a nearby store. As he only returned at night, his wife filed a complaint with the police.

Police say Dr. D’Souza’s cell phone was turned off. His cellphone signal was tracked for a brief period near Ullal beach.

Although a police team rushed to the scene, they couldn’t find him. Efforts are being made to locate Dr. D’Souza, police said. Mangaluru South Police are investigating the case.

Hospital colleagues and friends are shocked at what could have happened to such an educated and talented doctor with vast experience in his medical career. He was appointed as the Dean of Allied Health Sciences at the private medical college in December 2021. Dr. Urban obtained his Masters in Medical Physiology from Kasturba Medical College Mangalore, Ph.D. from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal. He later obtained his masters degree and was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Society of London in 2018. He also obtained a certificate in medical education from John Hopkins, USA.
