Nextiva, customer engagement specialist, joins the board

Nextiva, a Scottsdale, Arizona-based customer engagement and productivity software company, today announced that former Zendesk CFO Alan Black and Robert (Bob) Beauchamp, former president and CEO of BMC Software , have joined its board of directors.

Nextiva’s solutions promise to help sales, service and marketing teams achieve higher productivity and deliver better customer engagement, through a cloud-based platform bringing together business communications, intelligence and automation to help manage customer relationships.

Black brings over 35 years of experience leading public and private enterprise software vendors. He founded Surfspray Capital, LLC in 2017 and has advised over a dozen companies through it; and before that he was CFO of Zendesk; CEO of Intelliden (acquired by IBM in 2010) and CFO of, which went public in 1999. He holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce and a graduate degree in public accounting from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Beauchamp has over 30 years of experience in enterprise software and over twenty years as a board member of small and large companies across multiple industries. Most recently, he was president of BMC Software, having served as its CEO for more than sixteen years. He has served on the boards of two Fortune 500 companies, Raytheon and National Oilwell Varco, as well as a number of other public and private companies and non-profit organizations. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science in Management from Houston Baptist University.
