TROUP, Texas (KLTV) – Family, friends and the community gathered in Troup at First Baptist Church to raise funds for Cooper Reid’s recovery.

Reid is currently in a brain injury rehabilitation center in Houston, recovering from a traumatic brain injury that occurred while playing football on Sept. 9.

Fish fry, silent auction and live auction were held at the event. About 200 winners were chosen for the auction.

Mixon First Baptist Church, Gospel Barn and First Baptist Church have all teamed up to make this event happen.

The auction included homewares, gift baskets, flowers and more.

“Your friends, your teachers, everyone who loves you so much is there to support you, just to be with you and support you and cheer you on. And, we’re so proud of you, and we can’t wait to see what God still has us in store. We just want you to improve,” said Jennifer Minnix, ninth-grade English teacher at Troup High School.

Minnix is Reid’s former teacher and said students hope he recovers as soon as possible.
