US states. She remained active in Lay Witness missionary work until 2018. Joyce was an active member of El Dorado First Baptist Church and Son-Flower Lay Renewal.

Other memories include living for 13 months in Würzburg, Germany with her husband during his US Army tour from 1957 to 1958 and helping to introduce women’s gymnastics to El Dorado with the start of the El Dorado Gymnastics Club in 1970. Joyce enjoyed sewing, photography and decorating cakes for family and friends; as well as a number of large 3-dimensional cake sculptures for Jesus’ annual birthday parties at his church.

As a teenager, Joyce started working as a soda maker at the Pratt Owl Drug Store. She and Gene moved to El Dorado in 1959, where she worked for McClure Motor Co., Cory, Webster, Lawrence & Greenblat, JA Allison, and Oil Hill Industries as an accountant. In 1962, she left the world of work to become a stay-at-home mother. Gene and Joyce owned Rush Plumbing & Heating, Inc. in El Dorado serving the community for 22 years. They retired on October 31, 1999 and continued to share many travel adventures in numerous national and state parks, 6 trips to Israel, as well as trips to other countries throughout their retirement and of their life.
