WHEELHOUSE, Barbara Ann, 79, of Chesterfield, Va., Passed away on Sunday December 19, 2021. Born in York County, Va., The daughter of the late James Monroe and the late Louise Shell Garrett; and was also predeceased by a son, James Monroe Wheelhouse; one sister, Mary Lee Garrett; and a grandson, Dana Rowsey. Barbara had love for her Lord and was a founding member of Swift Creek Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and parish nurse. Most recently, she was a member of the Western Heights Baptist Church in Dinwiddie, Virginia. She was a member of Chapter 155 of the Daughters of Confederation, where she served as Registrar and Registrar of Military Service. Ms. Wheelhouse was a passionate gardener, an amazing cook and a passion for genealogy. Her family will be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Stuart M. Wheelhouse Jr .; three children, Tricia W. Rowsey, Deborah Markert and her husband, Wallace and Stuart M. Wheelhouse III and his wife, Mary Beth; six grandchildren, Christopher Rowsey and his wife, Lea, Jeffery Rowsey, Jeremy Lee, Niki Pontious and her husband, Adam, Sarah Pierce and her husband, Justin and Alex Wheelhouse and his fiancee, Brittany; 10 great-grandchildren, Ashton, Matthew, Kierston, Aiden, Layla, Christian, Brilee, Lorelai, Royce and Savannah; four siblings, Phyllis French (Pete), Larry Garrett (Liz), Gloria Longest (John) and Steve Garrett; one uncle, Bookie Shell; her beloved cat, the ears; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Western Heights Baptist Church, with the Reverend Jonathan Dundalow as celebrant. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia. The family will receive the friends one hour before the church service. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Francis Medical Center for the love and care shown to Mrs. Wheelhouse. The family is served by the St. Petersburg Chapel of JT Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
