Mrs. Anna S. Kindred, widow of Waldo C. Kindred, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at her residence.
She was born in Montgomery County, Kentucky on August 25, 1924, the daughter of the late John and Margaret Alice Ragan Shafer. Ms. Kindred was a retired regional manager of the South Central Bell Telephone Company and after her retirement she worked at the Whitehall State Shrine and Fort Boonesborough. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, former member of the Richmond Housing Authority, former regent of the Boonesborough Chapter of the DAR, former member of the Madison County Democratic Women’s Club, Cancer Society, Altrusa, and was a former volunteer at Pattie A. Clay Hospital now known as Baptist Health – Richmond. Ms Kindred was a member of First Baptist Church in Richmond where she and her late husband Waldo were instrumental in organizing White Hall Baptist Church. She also served for many years as a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include: his daughters, Gail K. Wickersham (Allan) and Cheryl K. Powell; five grandchildren, David Wickersham (Andrea), Mark Wickersham, Kelly Stitzer, Jon Powell and Rebecca McDaniel; eight great-grandchildren, Sophie Wickersham, Lily Wickersham, Elijah Wickersham, Garrett Wickersham, Jacob McDaniel, Juliette McDaniel, Jenna McDaniel and Wesley Powell; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by: one brother; and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022 at First Baptist Church, 425 Eastern Bypass, with Reverend Bill Fort and Reverend John Ward. Interment will follow at Winchester Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday after 11 a.m. at the church.
The bearers will be: David Wickersham, Mark Wickersham, Jon Powell, Jacob McDaniel, Wesley Powell, John Young, Marshall McVey and Glenn Sandlin.
The honorary bearers will be members of the Dorcas, Bethany and Gleaners Sunday School classes of the First Baptist Church in Richmond.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice may be made in Mrs. Kindred’s memory.
