Amy Kahl, the new Executive Director of Richland Pregnancy Services, has a heart for ministry and moms and dads trying to figure out parenting for themselves.

She knows this firsthand, as she was a single mother for 17 years.

“So we want to support them,” Kahl said.

Kahl is a familiar face at the 1560 W. Fourth St. nonprofit, having previously served as the organization’s director of development.

The most rewarding part of the job is watching families grow stronger, she said.

It’s rewarding to see parents learn new skills

“And just seeing moms and dads, seeing they can do it,” she said. “That they can learn new skills and that they have support.”

The agency has two full-time employees and eight part-time paid employees.

“We have over 60 regular volunteers,” she added.

Kahl replaces Amanda Clark, who was hired earlier this year by the National Pregnancy Center Organization, Care Net.

Looking to the future, Kahl said she hopes the ministry will continue to be successful in sharing the gospel, saving the lives of unborn children and building strong relationships with area churches.

“I’m so grateful to be a part of Richland Pregnancy Services, and I’m so excited to work side-by-side with our friends in the ministry and on the board,” she said.

All services are provided free of charge

According to the agency’s website, all Richland Pregnancy Center services are provided free of charge.

RPS will continue to offer free services, including pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, STD tests, parenting classes, mentoring and material support.

Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins can be assisted if there is a free time slot. Contact the RPS to schedule an appointment to ensure you receive timely assistance.

All services are confidential.

For clients who received a free positive pregnancy test at the office, the Richland Pregnancy Center can provide verification of a positive pregnancy test (including estimated due date) to apply for a medical card through the services of employment and family, as well as a WIC reference.

Richland Pregnancy Services provides support regardless of an individual’s situation, connecting clients with a client advocate who will tailor agency services to their needs, providing information, education, referrals and supplies . RPS can also provide information about pregnancy options, including abortion, adoption, and parenting.

Richland Pregnancy Services also offers confidential and compassionate support designed to help men and women begin the healing process after a previous abortion. These individual sessions are offered free of charge. All calls and appointments are confidential.

Kahl said most people come to Richland Pregnancy Services through word of mouth from other customers.

“We also have risk avoidance education in local schools,” Kahl said.

She said Richland Pregnancy Services also reaches customers through social media.

Donations of maternity and baby items accepted

“We’re always on the lookout for new and gently used baby items, from clothes to maternity clothes to baby furniture to diapers. These things come into our shop,” Kahl said.

Kahl was educated at Kentucky Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in Bible and business administration.

She has lived in the Mansfield area most of her life.
